Scope and objectives of the workshop<\/strong><\/h1>\nThe IEA Bioenergy Task38 conference on Land Use Changes due to Bioenergy – Quantifying and Managing Climate Change and other Environmental Impacts<\/i> consists of two days of presentation and discussion on the following themes:<\/p>\n\n- Direct Land Use Change (DLUC) – magnitude and methodologies for assessment;<\/li>\n
- Indirect Land Use Change (ILUC) – drivers of ILUC and mechanisms to manage ILUC; magnitude and methodologies for assessment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Goals of the workshop are:<\/b><\/p>\n\n- Share knowledge and increase understanding of the impacts on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and other environmental services of direct and indirect land use change resulting from expansion of bioenergy<\/li>\n
- Draft a summary document on recommendations for incorporating direct and indirect land-use change in policy for bioenergy development and to establish a team to finalize the document (for submission to the IEA Bioenergy Executive Committee Meeting).<\/li>\n
- Prepare for a potential side event at COP-15 (Copenhagen) or session at another conference on bioenergy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
